Intriguing proposition, I have a sister who lives in the Atlanta area.  Are you driving from Des Moines?

Initial thought was a flight. I got points to use. I am a little concerned because there is talk on the GA site about a "rain date". Hard to justify travel without knowing for sure you get to play kubb that day. I have a note out to the coordinator. I'll update this thread when I hear back.

Logistics will be difficult for me regardless.  How about we organize a Midwest Master's gathering.  Find a midpoint location for all interested players, and have an awesome mixer event where you'll play with and against all-star quality kubb enthusiasts throughout a day or weekend. Winners can be determined by overall won-loss records with finals being singles matches if needed.  I'd love to have this opportunity with a chance to get to know and play with others in a less-stressful, fun format.  Are you game??

Got a response from the GaKubb coordinator and the tournament will not be rain or shine. They will have a rain date if it were to rain, so I am unable to commit to Atlanta.

As for the scrambler tournament format, I think it's a great idea. In Des Moines our league is driven by this format, and people love it.

For future reference, my sister lives only 3 miles away from Python Park - perhaps another day!

As for the mixer - CVKLers love it as well. My hope in a "Midwest Masters" event is to have a chance to meet and play with and against the best in a fun/friendly environment. I hope we can pull it together sometime!

Additionally, an event like this would be a great chance to bring us together as sort of a board of directors to discuss the state of kubb. It could be a time to do some coordinating as well.  For example,  I'd enjoy a chance at the Fall Klassic, but I'm not willing to pass on Oktoberfest in Chippewa Falls (a wonderful event I know you'd enjoy). We plan our Kubbfest each year to fall on the Saturday of Oktoberfest, this unfortunately conflicts with the FKK.

If someone starts a tournament like that, I am sure people will come. It just all depends on the who, where, and kubb sets. Anyone want to organize it in 2014?

Who is interested and willing to play with and against some of the best kubb players in the Midwest? How about finding a spot in Winona or Rochester, MN, LaCrosse, WI, or Dubuque, IA??  How about having each player being required to bring an OTG or JP or similar set to be rotated in throughout the day?  I'm in for helping organize right here, or let's start a new thread.

Chaska, MN  OCT 26th.  Late for this year, but hoping some people would make the drive. Not advertising a lot as we want the "hardcore" guys to see who is the best.
